The Brisbane River is undeniably a key asset for the city and the delineation formed by the river edge, just as the Kangaroo Point cliffs form an important visual boundary to the ever-developing cityscape.
The proposed site is located in the heart of Kangaroo Point, highly visible from the Storey Bridge (Bradfield Highway) and neighbouring Lytton Road and presents an opportunity to create an iconic building on the CBD fringe. Development on this site will play a role in Brisbane’s evolving skyline and contribute to its growth as Australia’s ‘New World City’.
The subject site has three street frontages: Ferry Street to the North, Prospect Street to the South and the Western boundary fronting Deakin Street. The building is sited centrally, and the main façade faces Deakin Street, affording expansive views toward the CBD and beyond to Mt Coot-tha. Access to the site is via either the Storey Bridge, nearby Dockside or Thornton Street ferry terminals, conveniently located within walking distance. Council’s future vision of the foot bridge to the city will further improve the city network to the Kangaroo Point.
