Rising twenty-one levels above its narrow, elongated site fronting George Street in Parramatta, this polite and unpretentious, classic podium/tower building embodies all of the key qualities of the Four Points Sheraton brand; practical, authentic, timeless, honest and uncomplicated.
A+ design group has created a functional and modulated form which immediately addresses the street at a human scale as the building cantilevers to the site boundary providing shelter on approach to the main entrance. This rich tapestry and layering of elements break down the overall scale of the building into smaller components.
The tower recesses upwards from a strong podium base, both horizontally and vertically, addressing the historically listed ‘Perth House’ to the west and in its plan and proportions. The existing mature olive tree sits comfortably within this space, helping anchor the smaller yet vitally important shelter element of the streetscape. Adjacent a modulated series of external frames house hotel rooms and supporting amenities including a generous green wall which screens an above ground carpark and flanking the eastern elevation.
