Master Leung (b.1976, Hong Kong), AKA Kaichi Leung, is a Chinese architect known for his pursuit of art, which initially began in 1990 and continues apace today.
With a strong belief in the creative process of artmaking providing both healing and life-enhancing benefits, he aims to make use of art, in any form, as a tool to turn intangible experiences into something we can perceive through sight and touch. Master Leung works on community building projects, utilising art as medium to connect, to communicate, and to further cognizance towards the ever-present topic mental health.
In 2021, Master Leung was appointed by the Museum of Chinese in Australia (MOCA) to transform the former Haymarket Library, located in Sydney, into a museum. This museum will act as a community hub to collect, research, conserve, display, and interpret the history, heritage, and material culture of the Chinese in Australia.
MOCA will take on a critical role in spreading and bringing awareness to the stories of Chinese settlers and their descendants for future generations.
